The Friends of Eagle Wrestling (The FEW) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources to support year-round activities for Colonial Forge High School in order to develop character, discipline, and life skills through competitive wrestling.
In a relatively short period of time, Colonial Forge High School has developed one of the top wrestling programs in the State of Virginia. Colonial Forge’s success can be attributed to the exceptional dedication of the coaching staff and wrestlers and to the noteworthy parental support of the program. Colonial Forge’s wrestling program consists of two varsity teams and a junior varsity team. These three entities provide our wrestlers the opportunity for:
- Top-notch, national-level competition and exposure at the Varsity Green Team level.
- Outstanding in-state and regional experience and competition at the Varsity Blue Team level.
- Strong state and local competition opportunities for up-and-coming wrestlers at the Junior Varsity level.
Typically, high school wrestling programs are limited to only one varsity and one junior varsity team. But, through the support of the FEW and the coaching staff, Colonial Forge provides our wrestlers with an extra varsity team and accordingly, has established a junior varsity-to-national level competition developmental model for its wrestlers, thus affording each wrestler the opportunity to maximize his or her potential. The FEW’s efforts are key to maintaining and supporting this program and its growth for our wrestlers. When opportunities avail, the FEW extends its support to local wrestling clubs and middle school programs to encourage individual participation and growth in the sport of wrestling.
Our membership includes parents and guardians of team members and the Colonial Forge coaching staff. The FEW’s members are “owners” of the organization, and as such exercise their voice in organizational decisions through their elected Board Officials and in person or by proxy during FEW meetings. The organization of The FEW and its processes are governed by our Bylaws, a copy of which is located at the attachment.
The FEW’s Board members are ethically obligated to FEW membership for their decisions and oversight of operations. Therefore, the FEW’s Board is accountable to the organization’s members and assumes responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information pertaining to the FEW’s operations.
Successful operations of The FEW — and its ability to continue to support the Colonial Forge wrestling program — is not a result of The FEW’s Board actions. Rather, The FEW’s success can only be gauged by and are contingent on member input, understanding, and support. The FEW needs you!
Fund Raising: There are many ways you can support the team, including attending matches in person whenever you are back in Stafford or on the road (refer to our Schedule). Another important facet of the team’s success has been the behind-the-scenes generation of the funding that supports the efforts of our wrestlers so that we can pay for the team’s attendance at tournaments (both in and out-of-season). The cost of travel, entry fees, as well as a myriad of other expenses have never gone down in price, so anything you can as an Alumnus to support the team is greatly appreciated. We have made it as easy as possible for you to make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to The Friends of Eagle Wrestling (The FEW). We have set up a PayPal link that will make it easier for you to make a contribution to support the efforts of the coaches and wrestlers.
To make a donation please click on the Donate tab to see what your options are. The FEW accepts donations in a variety of ways to make the process most convenient for our friends and fans.
